| People are often curious how we got our name. If you look up the word “Tweak”, in the dictionary you will read: "Tweak: to make a minor adjustment, to pinch and pull." The show reflects the spirit of this definition as we use our athletic prowess and fertile imaginations to deftly manipulate flower pots, meteors, luminescent ropes and galvanized pipes--not to mention each other-- tweaking all the way! When it comes to nurturing your health and well-being, there are many varibles that can be tweaked: . . . . . . . *adjustments can be made to a person's diet . . . . . . . *improvements to their sleeping habits . . . . . . . *corrections to their breathing style . . . . . . . *alterations to their schedule . . . . . . . *updates to their belief systems . . . . . . . *changes to their activity levels . . . . . . . *enhancements to their self-care The list is endless since life continously changes, inviting us to change along with it. If the show is any indication, tweaking ones lifestyle is very rewarding: Being in shape is A LOT OF FUN!!! In this section of the FFPF Club, we will share tidbits of wisdom that we uncovered as a result of creating the show. Enjoy! |

| . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ."Play is where life lives." Like every college students, as graduation drew near I began to think about entering the "real world." As a business student, it naturally followed that I participate in on-campus interviews with visiting corporations. After my first afternoon of interviews, I found myself disheartened, disinterested and depressed. I turned to one of my favorite professors from the department of Human Resources, Dr. Jim Clark, for advice. He looked at me with a smile on his face and said: "Do what you enjoy! What makes you light up. " Initially, his response baffled me, no one had ever offered me this type of career advice. Yet, I really liked it. Well, as you can see, what makes me "light up"--the Tweaksters- has turned into the most odd profession ever. My friends are baffled by it. Yet, I have never felt so fully alive. Creating the show supported both Regan and I to stop analyzing, to stop talking, and to start playing!!! Our hearts were stirred wide open, as we met for daily play dates. The fun and joy we experienced, energized our entire lives. It super-charged our motivation to exercise, to eat right, and to make healthier life-style choices. The hours we spent training, did not feel like a chore or a burden, rather it filled us with joy and pleasure---soon we looked forward to them. The struggles we faced did not remind us of our shortcomings and failures, rather they exhilarated us with our passions and possibilities. |

Dr. George Sheehan, celebrated father of the running boom, goes as far as to say that "Play is were life lives." He goes on to add that " Running makes me a child, a child at play. That is the aim of life: to become an adult while remaining a child at heart. Play is the key. When we play, we do things because we want to, without thought of payment......When I run, I feel that. For that hour a day, I am a child finally doing what I want to do and enjoying it. When I do, I realize that what happens to the body (in terms of health and fitness) is simply a bonus. I must first play an hour a day, then all other things will be added." |

| Perhaps that is the key to success in any health and wellness program: we have to make it fun. And for it to be fun, the activities you choose must line-up with your individual tastes and preferences, your unique body, mind, and spirit combination!!! Regan and I find that when we engage in playful activities that stir our hearts wide open, motivation is no longer an issue. When we can draw upon that inner-life-giving-energy, all change becomes natural and ultimately unstoppable. Sheehan refers to this as a "self-renewing compulsion," since we all want to keep doing what we enjoy most! Add enjoyment to your day, and life to your years, engage in play! |
